GoGirl is an American brand of female urination device introduced in 2009 that gained some "buzz" following a CNN video news story on the product,[1] which described the product as a "cultural phenomenon".[2]
Personal hygiene products that facilitate women in urinating while standing up are not new.[1][3] The GoGirl product is based on a 20-year-old design by a doctor. It was re-branded, and relaunched in January, 2009 at the Minnesota State Fair in Minneapolis, Minnesota[4] by FemMed, a company based in Minnetonka, Minnesota[4] run by its founder, Sarah Dillon.[5] It is a vessel made of flexible pink or purple[3] medical-grade silicon with a splash guard on one end which the operator presses against her body, and a spout on the other side out of which the urine drains by gravity.[4]
